HERE IS THE TEXT OF AN EMAIL I SENT TO THE AFN REGARDING THEIR ONE MILLION DOLLAR CONTRACT WITH CANADA TO PROMOTE THE VOTE IN THE FEDERAL ELECTION IN OCTOBER. IT IS HYPOCRITICAL THAT THE AFN CHIEFS CAN PROMOTE THE COLONIAL VOTE WHICH IS PART OF THE ASSIMILATION PROCESS YET DENY OUR GRASSROOTS THE VOTE TO SELECT OUR LEADERS BEYOND INDIAN ACT CHIEF AND COUNCILS. AFN Executive Committee Members, The CBC is reporting that you have been hired by Canada to promote the vote in the October 2015 federal election. It is hypocritical that the very entity (who are supposed to be mandated to work toward the sovereignty and protecting our rights, ancestral ownership of lands and resources and getting full treaty implementation for our Indigenous nations) has suddenly become a hired gun for the colonial state. You and your 634 Chiefs continuously deny us (the real grassroots) the right to vote for our leadership beyond the Indian Act Chief and Council level while you can promote the vote for the colonial overlords. Why are you breaching your mandate by becoming an employee of the successor state and taking $1,000,000.00 to promote an assimilation tactic amongst our grassroots. Remember, they gave us the right to vote not because they woke up one morning and said lets be nice to the indians, they extended the voting right to expedite the assimilation process which was taking too long for their liking. Why are you not working on protecting our inherent rights, our indigenous and treaty rights and working toward achieving the nation to nation arrangements as agreed to by our signatories to the international treaties? It is very clear that the grassroots Indigenous people across our ancestral homeland and the Chiefs lobby groups are no longer looking in the same direction or even close to sharing and seeking the same vision. I am hearing the strong opinion that the grassroots people will now wake up, stand up and stand fast and take back control of our voice and authority and revoke any right the AFN or any other lobby group including chief and councils have highjacked from our Indigenous nations all in your pursuit for money. The people want freedom, not colonial money. The people are tired of being political prisoners in our ancestral homeland with chiefs and lobby groups squeezing the vicegrip of control for the colonial overlords. Brace yourselves because it could be a long and loud year coming from the grassroots people who are tired of oppression both internally and colonially. Electing a new National Chief has done nothing for your credibility. Re-arranging the cowpie has only increased the stench. Ozaway Pinesse
