HI MY FACEBOOK FAMILY I HAVE BEEN MISSING IN ACTION BECAUSE I HAD TO GIVE MY WRIST A REST FROM TYPING FOR A WHILE due to inflammation. So, I have been cool and the gang and chillin! But I know you sweet people have been wondering what does big mouth and opinionated Stella In The City think about the shocking video that recently went viral of now -fired NFL football star, Ray Rice, punching out his fiancée and now -wife, Janay, in an elevator while in Las Vegas. He knocked her out in that elevator and then dragged her limp, dazed and shoeless body out onto the lobby floor. This video was just horrifying to watch. BUT, SURPRISE, SURPRISE SHE STILL MARRIED the brawler...oops! I meant to say baller, seven weeks later on March 28 . Why am I not shocked? I am not because that happens more often than not with couples who know that behind closed doors, there is some butt kicking and fighting going on and most assuredly the wife or girlfriend is the punching bag! YET, IT IS ALWAYS SUCH A shock to friends and family when they find out that everything is not peaches and cream in that household, because the couple in public, only displayed love and happiness (Al Grits style) for each other. Well, I have no words because domestic abuse will always be a part of this society as long as women feel that they must have a man at all cost and they lose their self esteem for love sake, and worse yet, have decided to put up with the abuse and isolation for the sake of their kids. I am not going to start rattling off a bunch of statistics on domestic violence because we all know it is rampant and especially exist in homes where folks are struggling financially. The abuse becomes even more prevalent when drinking is involved, because then all hell can break loose! ATHLETES ARE TRAINED TO BE PHYSICALLY aggressive and most often that behavior can easily impact their personal lives off the field. Janay Palmer still married the man who cold cocked her and dragged her out of that elevator. I, like most folks, know she should have NEVER married that guy and should have filed charges, but his wealth, I suspect, made her forgive him so she could still pick from his money tree and keep enjoying his package and the perks of being married to a star athlete! Believe me, he will hit her again....I guess in the name of love! Yes, I am being sarcastic for the folks who are scratching their heads! WHETHER YOU ARE A WOMAN (OR A MAN) IN AN abusive or potentially life-threatening relationship, you know already (because you have common sense and know what your gut feeling is telling you) what you need and have to do...I certainly do not have to tell you ...BECAUSE I AM NOT THE BOSS OF YOU! But, I will say....do not make your kids victims...they did not know they would be ringside at a boxing match! Be safe and God bless! YEAH, I SAID IT...STELLA IN THE CITY! (whew! Back to resting my wrist!)
