HILLSIDE HELPS-“Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you. And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.” (2 Thess.3:1-3) The faithfulness of the Lord is great and mighty at all times and through all circumstances. When in the darkest hour of temptation we stumble, yielding to the tempter and temptation, we show our unfaithfulness. In brokenness of heart we mourn over our sin, and cry out to the Lord to forgive and cleanse us from the filthiness of our sin. We discover that though we were unfaithful, God remained faithful. In renewed joy and praise, we recall the words of Jeremiah, “GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS” (Lamentations 3:23b). This is Truth we know only because God wants us to know it. He spoke these words through His prophet and the prophet recorded them as an eternal reminder. God has always been faithful and He always will remain faithful to His Word and His creation, “Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hath established the earth, and it abideth.” (Ps. 119:90) He is faithful in His promises, “Know therefore that the Lord thy God, He is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love Him and keep His commandments to a thousand generations.” (Deut.7:9) He is faithful in salvation and sanctification,“ And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is He that calleth you, who also will do it.” (1 Thess. 5:23-24) The Lord is faithful in the hour of temptation and trial, “ There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” (1 Cor. 10:13) The Lord is faithful to us in time of suffering, “Wherefore, let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to Him in well-doing, as unto a FAITHFUL CREATOR.” (1 Peter 4:19) The Lord is faithful to strengthen and protect against the powers of Satan. In the prayer of Jesus in John 17:15, “I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil (one)” There is no comparison to our faithfulness and God’s faithfulness. We become weak yet, He remains strong. We fail, but God never fails. We desire to do that, which is good, but end up doing what is bad; yet God is good always. We try to do right, but because of the weakness of our flesh, we do wrong to ourselves and others. Our God is righteous and holy and ever remains faithful. Today, as you face the challenges ahead, remember God’s faithfulness. Every promise He has made will be fulfilled. Our great challenge is to trust Him to be faithful as He promised. (Bro. Jerry E.
