HOW TO STORE YOUR BULK GROCERIES: Let’s say you bought 25 lbs of flour, 50 lbs of Rice, 50 lbs of pinto beans this trip to the warehouse. Go to the bakery department and ask if they have any of their 5 gallon buckets or any size they are going to throw away. They usually have a few and will give them to you. You will have to clean them but you have saved about $15 a bucket and a trip to Home Depot to buy the food grade buckets for storage. Take out enough for your pantry and place it in mason jars or any jar or container for use this month. If you want to you can divide what you have left into mason jars or Mylar bags with oxygen absorbers and place them in the buckets or just fill the buckets, of course you have cleaned the buckets first. BE SURE TO LABEL WHAT IS IN THE CONTAINER AND THE DATE YOU BOUGHT IT. Store in a cool dark place like the back of your closet or in the basement if you have one. During the summer NEVER store any food in the garage.
