HUNTINGTON GOLFERS RANK AMONG LONG ISLANDS ELITE ... Ranked second on Long Island, the Huntington High School golf team is riding a 33 match winning streak dating back to the 2012 season. The Blue Devils easily claimed victory in their first eight contests this fall and continue to set their sights high. The team’s starters include James Smoot, Justin LoTurco, Tyler Gerbavsits, Tom Kopstein, Chris Bergman, Tom Waldron and Chris Glowacky. The roster also includes the talents of Matt Giamo, Chris Abbondandelo, Tom Drake, Dan Brown, Kevin Lawrence and Marco Caporuscio. Jim Smoot qualified for last spring’s state championships and is vying for a return trip to the course at Cornell University on May 31-June 1, 2015. Additional returning golfers include Tom Waldron, the reigning league tournament champion and Chris Bergman, who earned All-County honors as a junior. Justin LoTurco is the Blue Devils’ captain.
