Had a nice review of designing and working a 60-tama ayagaki - TopicsExpress

Had a nice review of designing and working a 60-tama ayagaki braid. I love the pine motif, both pine needles and pine tree. The braid is riddled with mistakes, but it was good practice and a great review. This type of braiding requires a lot of concentration and close attention! I also found Carol Miller Franklins new workbook on ayagaki extremely helpful, particularly in understanding the theory of where exchanges may and may not occur. Her charting method is also very clear and easy to understand. Rodrick Owens method is also excellent, and does not involve learning to recognize the symbols used in Japanese books. However, learning them will also help you to be able to intepret the Japanese graphs. So learn both!
