Had to sharethis utter ridiculousness. I get that themed races have attracted followings, and I have no problems with that. If folks want to train for & do obstacle races for fitness & recreation, more power to them. But for the organizers to even hint that this kind of event may have a future as an Olympic sport is beyond asinine. First, running a course with obstacles and a mud pit is not a sport. Its a fitness activity. To put this type of thing that has a history of less than what, 10 years, on the same level as swimming, track & field, gymnastics, shooting sports, etc., is a joke & a slap in the face to real sports. Folks, keep your gladiator around to hit finishers with a padded stick. Keep making your $$ and providing folks with a fun way to spend a couple hours on a Saturday. But NEVER confuse your activity with an Olympic sport. Its an embarrassment to you, and all the real sports out there...
