Both parties agreed to : 1 - That a full report of the meeting will be presented at the next Council of Ministers of the Republic of Haiti in order to decide on the appropriateness to lift the preventive measures of prohibition of meat and live animals from the Dominican Republic. 2 - Regarding poultry products in particular, the technical staff of the Ministries of Agriculture of both countries will meet in a timely manner in order to define a protocol establishing mechanisms to regulate the trade of these products. According to José del Castillo Saviñón, ho led the Dominican Commission, the Government hopes that Thursday will be lifted the import ban in Haiti on the poultry meat and live animals "We hope that tomorrow [Thursday] will be lifted the ban and may normalize the meat trade at the border," explaining that Dominican officials explained to the Haitian authorities "the reality of the health situation in the Dominican Republic and gave explanations about the bird flu, stressing that we are free of this infection, which has been certified by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO)." Until now, the extent of Haitian interdiction, taken last Friday have so far caused economic losses of more than 68 million pesos (± 1.6 million). It is to be noted that if we ignores the decision that will take the Haitian government in this case, this is the first time that the authorities refer to a human influenza [A / H1N1 without explicitly name it], and not the bird flu (H5H1).
