Handover #152 Newcastle A Very Big Well done to Sharon, Team 152 & all who donated your time and amazing donations to help make this happen What a Beautiful home you have created for this family! A note from the Team Leader: The handover for Haven 152, the first in Newcastle, went ahead as scheduled today. The ladies from the refuge were quite excited to go inside and see our handy-work and I don’t think they were disappointed. Photos attached! Manuela, I have to thank you and Melissa, and Fiona for your support! It’s been a hectic week, highly charged and rewarding! I also need to thank my trusty helpers, Liz, Monica, Noelene, John, Geoff and Allen; all of whom helped where they could. Muscle and ingenuity abound in my circle! I’ve provided a list of people who donated items to Haven 152. They were all generous and supportive of the cause. Quite a few people said “I’d rather give to a family who needs it rather than sell it and get money for it.” Lots of generous people were disappointed not to be able to donate to Haven 152, either because we had already sourced the items or our family didn’t require the item(s). They are all keen to help next time, which is great! A few people for special mention: Sharon G – phoned and said she wanted to “de-clutter” because she is moving interstate for a new challenge. She made up pamper and bathroom packs and loaded her car to the brim with items we had, and hadn’t thought of; all of which will bring a smile to faces of our family. She then drove from Sydney to Newcastle just to deliver the items to me. She then drove back to Sydney. That’s a five-and-a-half hour round trip!! Michelle, Darlene, Kirsten, Sally, Tahnya, Warren and Jackie all went out of their way to purchase and deliver new items for our family, some at great cost. Much appreciated! Liz, Belinda, Carla, Carol, Nicole, Zoe, Noelene, Bobbie, Sarah and Dianna all responded to the call warmly; parting with their prized possessions so that someone else can make a fresh start. All champions! Just when we thought we wouldn’t have a chest of drawers for our family… Charmaine comes to the rescue at the last minute with two chests of drawers and a lovely little bookcase, which has taken pride of place in the living room. Thank you Charmaine!! Thanks to Liz for picking them up! Well, that’s me done for now! I look forward to hearing what our new family thinks of their Haven! Thanks again for the opportunity to help. I really appreciate the trust you put in me J Regards Sharon Thank you Newcastle Herald for helping us spread the word!
