Happy Father’s Day! I miss you Mike Kosich. I am grateful to have had a father who was a mensch, a genuine, good man, kind and emotionally mature. I was 9 years old when he died. I was his only child. He left the old country when he was 16. He was a poor immigrant laborer all his life, a miner when I was born. I remember him taking me to my first dance class when I was four. He danced a lot at Croatian weddings and family style European dances and played the tambura. I can still remember dancing the polka with him. I kept doing some kind of dance through my life. It is when I always felt the most alive and true. This past year, I have practiced with a new life and purpose. I know my father would be happy. And he would be honored that I can share my soul’s desire with such wonderful partners, teachers and students.
