Happy Monday and welcome December!! Our favourite month! As Christmas is a time of giving we would like to start our 4 weeks of giving with a charity involving a little boy and his fight with cancer. After 12 months of hell, 2 neuro surgeries, 6 rounds of the most aggressive chemo available to a 6 year old, a bone marrow transplant, plus another neurosurgery we thought Zach was free and clear. No evidence of disease. Zach is now up for another massive fight. Earlier this week Zach had a seizure at home, the CT scan showed no fluid build-up and he was scheduled for a MRI on Wednesday. Wednesday was a very hard day for the Dalco’s as the results of Zach’s MRI werent what was hoped for. In a nutshell, the cancer is back with a vengeance. It has spread through Zachs spinal fluid, down his the spine and throughout his brain. Whilst most spread of the disease involves coating of the brain, there are a number of little tumours. Geoff, who is Zach’s Senior Consultant/Oncologist, did not see this one coming. Not this early and certainly not this aggressive. The odds... they are not good, the ones the Dalco’s have are heartbreaking to say the least. Radiotherapy is the next step. Lets help the Dalco’s buy some really good time. Greer and Winton’s mission right now is getting Zach healthy enough for a kick ass Chrissy in Tassie, a visit to Darwin so Zach can see his friends and maybe Dreamworld.
