Happy National Cousin Day!! We asked some of the Barstow cousins to walk down memory lane....this is what we got... Uncle David used to pick Amanda & I up really early, 3 I think, to pick corn. I was 12 and she was 14. We would go to her house and nap until noon and sell the corn on 47. We spent half that summer selling corn and listening to music in the back of the old blue pickup and it was awesome! – Karen Barstow Horgan After school I would rush up to change into my play clothes and head straight for the farm with my sister to meet up with Heather. Then Heather and I would run away from Claire until we lost her and end up playing in the muddy brook until she found us…and then we’d run away again… - Denise Barstow When Denise and Heather would abandon me on the farm. – Claire Barstow I remember Amanda and Karen ditching me at the farm to do something way cool that little sisters were not welcome to join in. – Kelly Barstow That time Karen was babysitting Claire and I and we got about 4 balls of red plato stuck to the ceiling. – Denise Steven taught me how it drive. First with a tractor then with his old truck. – Jamie Barstow DiCola That time Heather was hit with the old feed cart and Steven carried her into the parlor to tell someone. There was blood dripping all down his jacket. She ended up getting her teeth pulled. – Jamie Barstow DiCola When Heather ran into the feed cart, Grandpa’s reaction was, thats why the kids shouldnt play in the barn. – Karen Barstow Horgan Biking in our bathing suits, with no shoes on, all the way up to the highest silo by the reservoir and coasting all the way down to 47... Eating dirt/pavement at the bottom. – Heather Barstow Climbing the forbidden gravel pit despite specifically being told numerous times absolutely NOT to climb the gravel pit. – Heather Barstow How about when our older cousins would babysit us at Grandmas and we would go drive up to the summit house for a picnic with egg salad or tuna fish sandwiches. We also used to bug them to let us go swimming constantly. – Jamie Barstow DiCola The K.C.K.C.!! The original Keep Cool Kids Club! Located in the run down shed that used to be attached to Grams house. We used feed bags as seats during our very important club meetings.... First order of business- clean all the cat poo off of our chairs (feed bags). Second order of business- search for litters of kittens in the old barn attached to the run down shed. – Kelly Barstow We used to shake gravel in a mayo jar to call the club meeting to order. Also- the KCKC club was named for a bird that was knocked out of the tree in front of Amandas that we buried & had a funeral for up on the mountain. – Karen Barstow Horgan When Shannon would babysit Heather and I. She would tell us if we didnt pick up our mess then our toys would blow up. – Jamie Barstow DiCola Playing basketball in the hayloft! – Kelly Barstow Do you remember when Karen told Gabby that if you took Taj’s collar off that her head would fall off. – Jamie Barstow DiCola Horse camp at Cedar Reach with Shannon! – Heather Barstow Amanda once rode her bike into the barbed wire fence right before picture day at school & cut up her face. – Karen Horgan Barstow
