Happy Thanksgiving. Im thankful to be here! I saw a friends post which was from the Overton Hotel and Conference Center in downtown Lubbock, TX. Dr. Overton saved my Moms life in 1940. She was 4 years old from a tiny, isolated West Texas community and her appendix burst. To survive she needed to literally drink gallons of water a day to flush the poison from her little body. But how do you get a 4 yr old to drink gallons and gallons of water a day? Dr. Overton made a deal with her that saved her life. He told her that for every gallon of water she would drink, he would give her a silver dollar! And now you know... the rest of the story :) Dr. Overtons portrait hung in the entry halls of Methodist Hospital in Lubbock, where I was born, and every time we went past it during my life in Lubbock, my mother told me the story of how Dr. Overton saved her life. I am very thankful for Dr. Overton... and my Mom! Love to all who read this :))
