He has and is continuing to bring a spirit into our hip hop industry that is UnSouth African. For many years many hip hop pioneers worked tirelessly to give us music we could call our own, even when it was not lucrative for them to do so. They fought for a space in a landscape, that at first was not ready for thier vision of South African hip hop, but through perseverance they made thier dream a reality. In realising thier dream they forged what we know today as our proudly South African hip hop industry. ANYONE who is truthfull and has followed this Aka and Cassper debacle will admit one thing, Aka has had a problem long before Cassper arrived on the scene, hence his squabbles with many other MCs and even celebrities who tried to advice Aka on his behaviour towards his peers. Aka has a toxic nature. A Few years ago Aka accused Bongani Fasis friends of beating him up. He then ran to radio stations pointing out to us how he was victimised. NOW this very same person shamefully escalated, by his own admittance on twitter, a simple rivalry into physical Intimidation. Since the inception of Hip hop, battle culture has been apart of the life blood of Hip hop, giving us rivalries that have pushed hip hop as a whole to new levels in terms of lyrical content, creativity and even production. So keeping things on-wax (dissing on the tracks) is what hip hop is all about, dont come now in 2014 to change the rules, if you dont have the skills to defend youre lyrical claims then stop claiming period. Akas cries that Cassper has been making songs about him are ridiculous, not very hip hop at all. MAKE A SONG IN RETALIATION and give fans a chance to experience one of the pillars of hip hop, being the competitive nature of the game, DO NOT lead our young minds (especially youre young fans) down a path that can only lead to violence. What Aka did was an insult to ALL South African hip hop fans. Weve been waiting along time for hip hop to reach this stage. We are in the golden age of SA hip hop and Aka risks all of this with his behaviour. If Cassper had not kept his cool, when Aka repeatedly taunted him and even physical provoked him, we could have easily had a fight break out at the SA hip hop awards. Aka disrespected the entire industry by putting it in a bad light. I for one have reached my edge with Aka. I will personally boycott all the Companies that sponsor Aka and his music! This may seem as if it means nothing as he has a massive following, but as a loyal South African hip hop fan, i will do my part in ensuring that good music and NOT violence prevails. One voice is all it takes to start a change...We dont want the South African version of 2Pac and B.I.G!!!
