Have been annoyed for quite awhile by the standard Pagan greeting - TopicsExpress

Have been annoyed for quite awhile by the standard Pagan greeting merry meet for the simple reason that it sounds EXACTLY like Mary meet . I have nothing against Mary, neither as a spiritual icon nor as a Goddess, however I feel that focusing on one female deity who represents only one facet of Goddess Spirituality does not represent a polytheistic religion adequately. Mary is nice, of course. But the spiritual world is already full-to-overflowing with Mary as the SOLE source of feminine inspiration. I feel that, particularly in this world of song that focuses on rhyme and tricks using rhyme, that its time to update that saying, and the song lyrics that utilize that saying, because I feel that it became overused and trite some time ago. Think about it. When was the last time you tossed around Merry meet as a standard greeting? What other times do you use the word merry ? ( other than in combination with the word Christmas ) I suggest a new greeting, and one which is more generic and applicable to contemporary NeoPaganism and polytheistic Goddess Spirituality. How about simply substituting the word we shall for merry ? Such as we shall meet . To me, this has much more meaning and applicability for practitioners. An added benefit is the association ( or rhyming trick ) with the word wish . Or, for those inclined ( I not being one of them, however ) witch. Said quickly, and with force, the phrase becomes: WISH shall meet, and the phrase becomes quite a bit more magical. WISH shall meet and WISH shall part and WISH shall meet again!
