He appeared as if from nowhere, an absolutely gorgeous boy with hair as black as coal and warm, inviting hazel eyes, not to mention the perfect smile. Petunia’s best friend Agnes almost fell down in a dead faint when she spotted him walking up the garden path. She tugged on Petunia’s sleeve while both girls picked up their jaws from the floor; nothing like him had ever been seen in their dead end street, let alone walking up to their house “Tunia” Agnes gasped “who is that… marvellous creature.” Petunia could only shake her head, dumbstruck as he strutted confidently over to the window they were sitting at and leaned against it “hey there gorgeous” he said with a wink, causing Agnes to fan herself weakly with her hand “I’m looking for my friend James.” Petunia recovered first “well… er… what does he look like?” she smiled self-consciously, trying to hide her teeth. He flashed a surprisingly dog-like grin and pushed away from the window “actually” he said, cocking his head to one side and peering down the road, “I believe that’s him.” A second magnificent boy rounded the corner with a third equally good looking boy. Where were they all coming from?! Petunia decided that the dark messy haired one with soft brown eyes was ‘James’ while the third one with light brown hair and a tired smile was a friend of theirs. He looked smart, like he liked to study and read books, Agnes was practically salivating over that one. “Pete not coming?” she heard the hot first one ask while the other two shook their heads “that’s ok, he’d probably die of embarrassment anyway.” He added cheerfully, shooting the two girls in the window a smile, prompting blushes from both of them. Both the other boys turned to look right at them with polite smiles that made Petunia’s heart flutter. Usually boys never looked at her at all, let alone three at once. “Who are your new friends Sirius?” James asked as Petunia’s eyes widened, she loved astronomy. “I’m Agnes” Agnes said boldly, trying to seem at ease, Petunia smile “I’m Petunia.” At that all three boys cracked wide grins that would have been handsome separately, but only served to creep Petunia out together. “Wow, um, hi!” James said enthusiastically “I’m James Potter, your sister’s boyfriend.” And just like that the illusion was shattered, of course they were here for Lily, no boy who looked that good would ever be there just to talk to her. Something about Petunia’s expression must have tipped James off to the fact that Petunia had lost interest in their conversation because James’ next words were rushed “these are my friends Remus Lupin and Sirius Black. We all go to Lily’s school.” Why were all the cute ones freaks? Of course perfect, princess Lily chose this exact moment to run outside and kiss her gorgeous boyfriend, accompanied by the catcalls of his gorgeous friends, even, much to Petunia’s horror, Agnes joined in, smiling and laughing. Petunia had never felt so alone. She resolved to find a boyfriend one day that was the complete opposite of James Potter, after all, it looked like the only person she would ever be able to get. She’d never be good enough or pretty enough or talented enough to ever catch anyone so specials eye. Not like her sister. - Cristie who shall reply to the comments on the other stories soon :)
