He closes his eyes for the final time, His work, duty, and life - TopicsExpress

He closes his eyes for the final time, His work, duty, and life ending in his prime. Now theres sadness all around And soon theyll lay him beneath the ground. He saw it all both good and bad In a short life that was all he had. Death, destruction, evil, and chaos In a foreign land to protect US. Ear piercing screams from wounded warriors And sights that would make the average person inferior. It was war and hell on earth And it made one question their self worth. Nothing is the same for a soldier Once theyve borne the cross on their shoulder. You learn to let the little things slide off your back While never giving an inch on things you cant afford to slack. Through the toughest struggle you must endure, Your love for life must remain pure. The fine line between life and death Is in between each and every breath. The soldiers widow and children will grieve And pray to God for their Hero to be received. As the bugle plays TAPS for this fine man, The Symbolic 21 Gun Salute is fired and we understand. The Flag is folded neatly fold by fold. There will be stories forever to be told. The coffin is lowered into the ground As everyone watches, not making a sound. Words are spoken by the Priest, Then hugs and handshakes are exchanged in the least. Its all so fitting that this tribute goes out To all of the men and women who serve with no doubt.
