He lay on the sand wondering if time could travel backwards, and if it could how would we know? Most of the other people on the beach were clad in skimpy beach wear but he wore a battered old tracksuit and jogging shoes. A small back pack supported his head. As he wondered, his eyes scanned the sky as if seeking a sign from above. A kitten was curled up beside him purring contentedly. A sun-creased elder woman in a purple bikini and golden sunglasses wandered by. She paused. She looked down at the man. She bent to pat the kitten. She said Be careful, there are Cougars on this beach and I am one of them. The kitten stretched. The man turned his gaze away from the sky. The woman said to him My name is Mabelene and I like you.
