Heavy rain and storms developing in VIC Rob Sharpe, Monday October 21, 2013 - 18:09 EDT Victorias South West is under a severe weather warning as rain and the odd thunderstorm develop and become heavy into Tuesday. A low pressure system and trough over South Australia is on its way to Victoria, but it has already produced areas of light rain in Victoria. By 3pm on Monday most of the South West and Central districts had enjoyed light rain, yet nowhere had gained more than 3mm. Light rain will continue this evening in parts of the Wimmera and Central, but in the Southwest it will progressively become more consistent and heavier into Tuesday. On Tuesday the low will move across Victoria, producing thunderstorms in the north of the state and into New South Wales. At the same time rain will pick become heavy at times in the evening as winds turn southerly, providing more moisture. Tuesday night into Wednesday morning will be wet and windy across the states south as the low slides offshore.
