Hebrews 13:8 8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. ___ Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Jesus does not change, since the start of creation, when He made everything, He decides what is good, and what is bad. The importance of God being the same, is that he keeps his promises, that he will not betray us, that what he has decided stands. Something people do not also realize, is how Jesus has played a role in everything from the Start, how he is found in both Old and New testament. This is what we are going to first examine tonight, scriptures that feature Jesus in the old Testament. Genesis 1:1 1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. ____ Very first verse believe it or not features Jesus. We see this and understand this through another scripture though. John 1:1-5 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. ____ This scripture explains a few things, first that all things were made by the Word, and also that the Word was in the beginning with God, and was God. The Word is Jesus, we see this later in the chapter to make it clear. John 1:14-15 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. 15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. ___ John preached about Jesus. And was witness of Jesus. So this should be enough confirmation for some, but there is another scripture to help us see, the Holy Trinity early on. Genesis 1:26 26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. ___ God here uses a Plural, not a Singular, this happens multiple times through the Old Testament, and there are other clues too (Especially if one knows a bit of greek or hebrew). Again, throughout the old and new testament, we see that Jesus was there from the start, here is another example. John 8:56-58 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. 57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? 58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. ____ Jesus talks about meeting Abraham, the Jews did not understand, that Jesus is the Son of God, and that Jesus indeed met Abraham! This was early on in the scriptures. Genesis 18:1-6 1 And the LORD appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day; 2 And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground, 3 And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant: 4 Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree: 5 And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort ye your hearts; after that ye shall pass on: for therefore are ye come to your servant. And they said, So do, as thou hast said. 6 And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes upon the hearth. ___ How do we know for sure Abraham seen Jesus, and not God the Father? Other scriptures explain this well. John 1:18 18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. ___ This is told multiple times in both old and new testament. So when Abraham saw the Lord, He saw Jesus Christ. Just like John 1:1 says, The Word Was God. They are three, and one. We must thank God, because he does not change. Malachi 3:6 6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. ___ If God, Jesus Created everything, and He agrees with the Father in everything, and does not change, anything that is said to be a sin, is a sin, and anything said to be good, is good. Jesus decides if something is good, or if it is evil. As a warning to all who call themselves Christian, if you do not accept what God says, but rather deny scripture, or change scripture, your punishment is far greater than what any heathen will receive. Because you have heard the Word, and say you believe, and yet you deny God in your works, and are double minded. Thank God, God is always the same. God bless you all.
