Hello All, Tomorrow is a big day my 2nd 5 k in less than a month...I wanted to take a moment to thank all of my friends and family who donated and those who wanted to donate and was unable to do so. In less than a week because of your donations we raised $70.00 to help fight blood cancers..so on to the next event. I am participating in the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation’s ENERGY FOR LIFE WALK. Please mark Saturday, March 22, 2014 on your calendars! That is when the walk will take place at Al Lopez Park in Tampa, FL. Every 30 minutes, a child will be born who will develop mitochondrial disease by the age of 10. Mitochondrial disease occurs when there is a defect in the body’s ‘powerhouses’. The mitochondria fail to produce enough energy. That results in organ systems failing. Imagine a major city with half of its power plants shut down. The same thing happens in the affected person’s body. The brain may be impaired. They may lose vision or hearing. The heart may be weakened, and they may have eating and digestive issues. The symptoms range from mild to severe for each affected person. The disease is fatal and there is no cure. I am asking that my friends and family support this cause by donating $1.00 by clicking on the following link or contacting me and I will mail to cash donations directly. energyforlifewalk.org/faf/login/partMenu.asp?ievent=1084948&kntae1084948=c0b993b9b1ae49dab27cb7f9e30ba8e1 Thank you in advance Weight lost with a purpose... Loving it. --
