Hello CSF! Welcome back to Fordham! Hope you all had a fun and restful break. CSF is coming back in full force this semester, with great events and programming as usual. Our next game night will be next Tuesday, January 17th. It will be hosted by our event coordinator, Tony Certa, at 8:00 PM in Walsh 501. If you need sign-ins to the room, text him at 215-817-1901. CSF Eboard elections will be happening at the beginning of our March 6th meeting. As many of you know, we have five positions: president (general manager of the club, manages events), vice president (manages day-to-day operations of the club and oversees the Welcome Committee) , treasurer (handles monetary [using OrgSync] and secretarial duties for the club), event coordinator (plans events using OrgSync), and public relations (handles all forms of advertisement for the club such as flyers, etc). Each of these roles is time consuming, but they all play vital roles in maintaining CSF. If you plan on running, think about whether or not you could see yourself in one of these positions. Also take into account the time commitment that these jobs require! If you want to know more about a specific position, feel free to ask an eboard member about their position. Anime: Nagi no Asakura: In this series, human civilization had lived on the ocean floor. However, there were many humans who wanted to live above the surface and they moved to land creating a fundamental separation between the two. After their school closes down, four 14-year old middle school students from the sea village, Shioshishio, have to attend Mihama Middle School on the surface. What follows is their struggles to adjust to a new environment and the relationships between the sea and land people, while dealing with their own newfound feelings that have just started appearing with the end of their childhood. Sci-Fi: Arrow: A TV shows that adapts DC Comics Green Arrow to a more realistic world. After being shipwrecked on an island for five years, Oliver Queen returns to his home of Starling City and becomes a hooded vigilante who seeks to eliminate the crime of his city. Video Games: LittleBigPlanet 2: A four player cooperative platformer set in a colorful world of unbridled creativity, imagination, and various materials. You must stop the Negativitron before it destroys Craftworld! Social Games: The Granny Cart of Awesome - Tons of great board and social games, ready for a new semester! Our special feature for this week is Ticket to Ride, a simple fun train game in card game form! Book Club: Stand on Zanzibar: The interwoven tale of a vice president of a powerful corporation and a secret agent investigating genetic engineering in an overpopulated dystopian world (all in the far off year of...2010). A masterful mix of narrative and worldbuilding! From your Eboard, Maddy, Mohan, Dakota, Tony, and Allegra
