Hello Sisters and Brothers: Here is some more information on The city of Brampton’s problems with community channel Mailboxes concerning litter. Brampton City Council , Canada Post, and CMB litter.( including City reports and a letter from CPC ) : Back in April 2014 CUPW gave a presentation to Brampton council . The City passed a resolution to request the Federation of Canadian Municipalities that the Federal Government direct Canada Post to maintain the current system of residential door-to-door postal delivery in Canada. The City also asked for an internal ( City ) report to be done on CMB litter costs to Brampton . The report was given in June 2014 to council on CMB litter costs and stated CPC had been contacted in the past but would not pick up the litter so the City had to do it. At that time the City passed a motion to instruct their staff to send a bill ( for $21,450.79 ) to Canada Post to pay for the Citys costs for clean up and dealing with the ongoing problem of CMB litter . Canada Post sent a reply dated Nov 26, 2014 . Canada Post says it does not have to pay the bill. This letter will be read into correspondence at the next Citys Planning and Infrastructure service committee on Jan 26 2015 . ( See last attachment ) There are two good examples of how Canada Post deals with municipalities on community mailbox problems . In the case of Brampton, they did not respond when notified of the problem and now they will not pay for it either when sent the bill. This was their reply : Please be advised that Canada Post does not pay municipalities for such services Canada Posts response pretty much speaks for itself.
