Hello to all our 4 year old kinder children and families, This week we have been focusing a lot on practising for next week’s kinder concert. The 3 and 4 year old kinder children have been practicing together in the 3 year old room. All the children are soooo excited and are ready to take the stage. Several of the girls in the group this week have been doing lots of singing throughout the day. The most popular song was ‘The Eye of the Tiger’ by Katy Perry. During our quiet play after lunch the girls in the group put on their own singing show using the Barbies and singing Katy Perry’s song. By playing and using the Barbies in this way the children in the group were able to initiate and contribute to their own play experiences emerging from their own ideas. They showed interest in being part of the group, listened to others ideas, developed their language and recalled a song of their interest into their play. This interest of the children was then extended by playing Katy Perry’s song ‘The Eye of the Tiger’ film clip on you tube, which was shown on the Smart board. The children loved it and were so happy and excited. They showed such enjoyment in watching and singing along to the lyrics because they knew it and could relate to it. Those children who didn’t know the song were able to listen and pick up the words and then join in with their peers who were singing. Throughout the week the children also enjoyed building with blocks, making things out of play dough, drawing and climbing outside. Have a great weekend and we will see everyone next week.
