Hello viewers and fellow creative souls! This is your favorite assistant/intern/apprentice extraordinaire speaking. I hope you all have had a seamless and beautiful transition into the new year, as 2015 is said to be a year of health and cleansing for those who have been battered by 2014. I recently came across a TED Talk by Elizabeth Gilbert, author of the bestselling book Eat, Pray, Love, who discusses historical theories on ones elusive genius, and how it should be viewed as an external entity that comes and goes, rather than something within ourselves that must be dug out and exposed. It is an incredibly engaging and thoughtful video that provides relief during those times when my mind is consumed by anxiety and fear of not being able to achieve a level of greatness that I once had. Gilbert shows us that all we can do as artists/writers/musicians/nudists/etc. is simply continue to do what we love, because the genius isnt entirely up to us. This video is a great companion on a Monday like this (and also provides subtitle options in 46 different languages, so your foreign friends can watch too). Please enjoy, and Happy New Year. -Falyn
