Helping Dads Cornwall is a support and advice service for fathers having to deal with the pain, trauma and uncertainty of Family Court proceedings regarding vitally important contact / residency matters concerning their children due to separation and divorce. Since Legal Aid was abolished on the 01st April 2013 for the majority of situations involving Family Law there has been a truly massive, alarming gap regarding fathers being unable to access the correct legal representation through the entire Family Court process - Simply put, if you cannot afford suitable legal representation then you’re pretty much on your own, unguided and often aimlessly wandering around a daunting and highly powerful system that is quite often stacked against you. In March 2013 I entered into such a system .... Fortunately, I managed to source suitable legal representation but my money soon ran out and I was on my own. Since March 2013 I have tried my very best to competently learn the legal system in full regarding Family Law - I have spent hundreds of hours researching, understanding Family Law, I have now spoken with far too many fathers going through the Family Law system, I have been guided and directed by several different professionals (working in related / associate fields) who have a detailed understanding and appreciation of Family Law and it’s affects both upon children and their parents. I have now gained a comprehensive, detailed wealth and understanding regarding the Family Law process and as Helping Dads Cornwall I am now very well positioned to guide, support and advise fathers who are genuinely unable to access the correct legal representation through the entire Family Law process. Though this highly unique service is aimed towards fathers, Helping Dads Cornwall is indeed a gender neutral organisation that openly promotes and actively encourages equality and shared, equal parenting but naturally we focus towards the gender specific issues of both contact and residency as faced by fathers who are separated (quite often forcibly, without good reason) from their children. If as a father (primarily living in Cornwall) you find yourself entering the daunting Family Court process regarding contact / residency of your children and you are unable to afford the correct legal representation, as long as you meet our eligibility criteria we will endeavour to help, fully assist and competently guide you through the minefield (usually face to face) that is the legal process.
