WROTE.............If language really is most easily acquired before puberty, children who were largely deprived of a normal linguistic environment should find it difficult to acquire language later in life. One excellent case study reflect nicely on this idea..... One is the case of Genie, a child who was locked away in a back room as an infant and was not discovered by the authorities until she was nearly fourteen years old. While confined, Genie heard very little language, no one was permitted to talk to her, and she was beaten by an ABUSIVE FATHER, if she made any noise.
