Here is another statistic that the public probably isnt aware of. We have both a trade deficit and a federal government deficit that requires foreigners to buy our debt. That most people know. We have to pay on that debt. People are aware of that. However America is still both a net creditor to the world and our businesses that have overseas operations sell so much in foreign lands that we are cash flow positive even after paying for the imports and the foreigners on our bonds. Companies with factories overseas that sell overseas do not count as exports but the cash they bring home from operations goes into this cash flow analysis. Last year the USA cleared $252 Billion Dollars in our dealings with the world, up from $147 Billion 5 years ago and havent run a deficit in those 5 years!
