Here is how everything breaks down in the Middle East: Russia backs Iran, and has entered into a defense agreement with Tehran. Russia also backs Assad in Syria and Erdogan in Turkey. Iran now exerts control over Damascus, Baghdad, Beirut and Sana’a. That means they effectively control policy in those nations. Those would be Southern Syria, Lebanon, southern Iraq and Yemen. These areas are Shiite. ISIS has risen in Northern Syria and spread to Northern Iraq. ISIS controlled areas are Sunni. Shia Islam emphasizes the return of Mahdi (he was born but vanished) with Jesus in Jerusalem. The emphasis is on a global Islamic revolution and less on a geographic caliphate. Sunni Islam emphasizes the rise of the Mahdi (not yet born) and the establishment of a caliphate to conquer the world. The Shia controlled areas now sit under Russian, Iranian and Turkish influence (all of which are under Russian influence first and foremost), and constitute the areas that will come against Israel in Psalms 83 and Ezekiel 38/39. The ISIS controlled areas are the regions that do not come against Israel. They now form the area once known as Babylon. Saudi King Abdullah has died. Saudi Arabia had been a buffer against Iran. After the Antichrist completes the seven year accord with Israel, his first major achievement is to walk into Saudi Arabia, red carpet rolled out and unopposed. This is something nobody else has been able to do before. This is something that requires planning and preparations before hand. It does not happen overnight. There will be secret meetings and discreet deals put into place. The House of Saud will soon begin speaking with elements of the ISIS command structure “off the books”. Yet, I suspect that the House of Saud will soon enter into talks with Tehran as well - also “off the books”. In the coming days, we will see two primary conflicts involving Israel (three if you count Isaiah 17) - the smaller conflict of Psalms 83, which will lead to Ezekiel 38 and 39 (Gog - Magog). At the conclusion of these two conflicts the Russian dominated Shiite alliance will be utterly broken. The nations involved in these conflicts will be decimated. Those nations will include the Sunni region once known as the Egyptian Empire. While this region is Sunni, they have done their own thing for quite some time. These decimated nations will need to regroup to survive. They only region that was not involved in the conflict will be the revived Babylonian Empire. This is critical. The defeat of the nations which come against Israel will force many Shia to “reconsider” their unwillingness to work with the Sunni’s. The Saudi oil money and promises of the final fall of Israel will be enough. Remember, in the Shia mindset Jerusalem is the prize. Once they have Jerusalem, then Mahdi will return. They will throw their hat in the ring with their Sunni neighbors in Babylon to achieve this goal and to rebuild. To the Sunni, it is about the caliphate and world domination through force. When the Shiite nations offer up their arms, armies and allegiance - that will signal the rise of a single Islamic caliphate throughout the entire Middle East. The Sunni’s know history - it is only when Islam is united as a caliphate across the entire Middle East that they are able to conquer. The will see this as the second coming of the Ottomans. Here is the big takeaway from this. When you read on the differences between Sunni Islam and Shia Islam, they read as though somebody cut the Book of Revelation in half. Half of what comes during the tribulation comes from Sunni belief. The other half comes from Shia belief. This is no accident. The Antichrist will marry both halves together, and from this the great beast will take its final form. The Shia will get the Mahdi and Jesus in Jerusalem, bringing about the global spread of Islam. The Sunni will get their massive Middle East caliphate the goes forth conquering the world. That is what is at the heart of ISIS, Iran, Russia and Saudi Arabia as you read the various headlines today. In the name of the most blessed Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
