Here is my 2nd attempt in capturing comet lovejoy C/2014 Q2 from Nagpur. The data for this image was captured from a place nearly 45min away from the main city. I captured around 300 x 2sec images from the location. I was shooting using 70 - 300 Tamron lens and after around 30 - 40 images the comet kept moving away from the frame, so had to keep repositioning the comet in the frame. As i kept repositioning, the location of the comet changed and DSS found it difficult to locate the comet automatically and hence, could not stack it. Earlier this morning i saw an image of the comet from mack photography (Mikey), he uses a mac too and he used Nebulosity for stacking. I forgot i had this software so gave it a try, it was a lot easier to stack, but did need some pointers from mikey. Among all 300 images i could only stack 266 images, which i manually had to reposition in photoshop so that the comet is in center. Once, manually repositioned, i exported all the layers and then brought them into nebulosity. Used the Translation + Rotation alignment method for stacking and this the result that i ended with. Further processing to bring out fine details in tail was done in PS CC. Exif for each frame: 2sec, ISO 6400, f5.6 at 300mm using Tamron 70-300 on Nikon D5100 #comet_lovejoy
