Here is our new adopted girl, Gracie. She is very sweet and oh so sensitive. She knows her name and giveskisses. Having had pet rats while my girls were growing up is THE major reason I will NEVER do a barn hunt with my pups. I have personally witnessed what these little creatures look like after they spent their time in the tube at an AKC barn hunt.They WERE traumatized. Rats are prey and dogs are predators. Sure there will be some ratties that are desensitized to the CONFINEMENT tube and predators. Just like some humans like to be in a shark cage and lowered into the ocean. Not me!!!! Domestic ratties are intelligent, have a keen sense of smell, and very gentle. And YES, we did do rat agility. These attributes are but a mere sample of the qualities of ratties. So you dog trainers out there doing barn hunting, have a blast letting your dog do what comes naturally for most predators. I thank you fb for letting me voice my opinion. I will now get off my soapbox.
