Here is some info on the candidates for Dawson County Register of Deeds from the candidates themselves: Dian K Lauby Lexington About Dian: Born & raised in Dawson County. Mother of 2 sons and grandmother of 2 boys. Married to the late Jamie Lauby for 21 years. I worked in the banking industry for 34 years, including in real estate processing and lending. Currently employed by McChesney Martin Sagehorn, PC. Member of First Presbyterian Church. Why you should vote for Dian: I am familiar with the history of property ownership in Dawson County. I have many years of banking, real estate & accounting experience. I know the people of Dawson County and am on a first name basis with many of them. I have diverse knowledge and experience in banking, lending, real estate document preparation and filing procedures and accounting. I feel confident that I have the experience, knowledge and people skills to perform the duties of the Register of Deed. In short I feel that I am both qualified and ready to serve!! Debra Stuchlik Lexington About Debra: Debra graduated with honors from UNL, attended law school and is a 20-plus year employee of the HO Smith Company as a licensed title insurance agent and real estate closed. Duties included daily contact with the Register of Deeds. Debra is endorsed by Ruth Meyer and Sen. John Wightman. Why you should vote for Debra: Debra has searched records on the old “paper” system and the new “computerized” system. She has training on the “electronic filing” system too. She has worked with Realtors, attorneys, lenders and the public in real estate closings. A lender prepares documents, while Debra searches the records and accurately records the after each closing. She handles millions of dollars each year and is accountable for each penny. It will be Debra’s responsibility to assure each and every Dawson County real estate owner as accurate record of their property.
