Heres a far different opinion of the movie Noah than what I - TopicsExpress

Heres a far different opinion of the movie Noah than what I shared yesterday from Hollywood screenwriter Brian Godawa. This comes from my nephew, David Cunningham. He implores Christians to bless the movie makers instead of cursing them, even if you dont feel you can go and see it. Theres a link to a trailer that includes opinions from Christians who have seen it and are urging other people of faith to see it and use it as a catalyst for conversation.... Dear fellow YWAMers, Thank you again for your strategic support of the movie SON OF GOD. Your support helped propel this important movie to #1 on opening day and #2 during its opening week. As we have mentioned previously, Hollywood trade magazines have declared 2014 the Year of the Bible because of the amount of movies that are being made or coming out this year, based upon scriptures. Next up is the epic, action-adventure NOAH which opens worldwide March 28. Academy Award winner Russell Crowe stars as the God-following ship builder. This big budget movie is packed with amazing visual effects and a star-studded cast which includes Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins as Methuselah along with Jennifer Connelly as Noahs wife. Many of the filmmakers behind this film are not Christians and there has been some criticism from some vocal members of the faith community. The criticism is that the filmmakers have not stayed true to scripture and that they have some theological issues. Most of these Christian critics have not seen the movie. Some have campaigned actively to boycott this film and have started campaigns to undermine the success of this film. As a YWAMer who has a life calling to the entertainment industry I would implore you to pray about blessing this movie, not cursing it. The faith community walked away from the entertainment industry in the 50s and cursed it (and inadvertently cursed the believers that were in this sphere). It has taken over a half a century for the faith community to engage in a significant way with this sphere. Entertainment and media is second only to education with its global influence. Lets not make the same tragic mistake again. Lets not walk away from any sphere. If you do not feel comfortable seeing this film because of its potential divergence from scripture, please say a prayer of blessing over the filmmakers, studio and actors. I know that some key believers that are salt and light in the midst of this movie, and have risked much to see this film get made in any form. Lets show the world that Christ followers are hungry for movies about the Bible and that we welcome the conversation of the word of God. Please take a moment to watch this trailer and see the many leaders in the faith community that have endorsed NOAH. Thank you for your consideration, David L. Cunningham YWAM Filmmaker
