Heres another excerpt of tomorrows sermon Abnormal Faith (Part 3). Im preaching myself happy and just wanted to share some more ---- ...The centurion soldiers faith is abnormal. Not only because it’s submissive to the savior. Not only because it’s untainted by tradition. But lastly, his faith is abnormal because it gives a shout to a servant. Not every expression of faith warrants a response from everybody. Normal faith is fixated on the privileged (“favored”). Abnormal faith appeals to the oppressed. This past week in Ferguson, MO, young activists from all around the country who were participating in an event called Ferguson October found themselves unimpressed with expressions of normal faith. One writer said that one particular crowd was, “subjected to speeches by a succession of preachers from the major religions offering essentially the same [normal, regular] message about loving one’s fellow man and standing up against injustice.” And frankly, the crowd just wasn’t trying to hear all that. In the words of Dr. Brittney Cooper, “Biblical platitudes don’t go far with this crowd.” In other words, when a group of people have been treated like 21st century slaves – servants with no social, political and economic rights and privileges – normal faith doesn’t move them. It takes abnormal faith to make a servant shout! #CUSSSHOUTING #MeetMeAtABC
