Heres my rant of the year: In case youre watching TV or reading your newsfeed and you see someone like Rudy Giuliani say something like: black people are 8 times more likely to commit a violent crime please vomit for me. The blackness of your skin does not make you more likely to commit a crime. Poverty makes you more likely to commit a violent crime, and most of the black community lives in poverty. in fact, the black unemployment rate is double the national average. If you think race has to do with your character or your likelihood to commit crime, please spare us the mental gymnastics and just go join the Klan. In case you see someone like Rudy Giuliani say something like: 91% of black people who are murdered are murdered by other black people. The black community needs to take responsibility. Please vomit again. Heres a statistic you dont hear from people like him: 83% of white people who are murdered, are murdered by other white people! It has nothing to do with the f**king pigment of your skin. Heres another one that gets me: Asians are well-adjusted! They get jobs and dont commit violent crimes! In case you dont know history, African Americans were very discriminated against in the 1960s. Theyve only had less than 50 years to adjust -- thats about 2 and a half generations. Do you think thats enough time for the majority of that community to rise out of poverty and become well-adjusted? Then you dont know much about poverty. Poverty is cyclical. Gangs are a great example: the desperation of poverty creates a need for a community, and gangs offer that community, and perpetuate poverty and violence. If you believe the stereotypes that black people are thugs and criminals, please defriend me and never talk to me again, because you obviously dont have enough brains or human empathy to understand the inequalities. And youre racist. And if you dont like this post because it makes you feel uncomfortable, or because its too political, or because its too angry, then get over it. Block me. I dont care. If you were to talk to me about these issues in person, youd hear the same things you read right here. I approve of the Eric Garner and Ferguson protests. Black lives matter, and we can AT LEAST give people a trial, instead of rigged grand jury decisions where prosecutors magically cant make indictments (despite their stunning personal records of being able to do so).
