Heres where we are: thanks to Senator Susan Collins (R-ME), the Senate will likely pass a bi-partitsan bill to get the government re-opened and delay the debt ceiling issue. Dems are going to have to give something too! Then, friends in the Tea Party and GOP - you need to push your members in the House to accept it. Youve made your point. But the fun is over. Consider it a victory and move forward. Dont kid yourself: a breach of the debt ceiling will hurt our country severely. Everything from the stocks you own, to the interest rate on your car, student and home loans will be impacted. We will all get hurt. Hear that: ALL of us. There will be a ripple hitting us all. And as long as it took us to climb out of the 2008 recession, well be moving right back in that direction. Its time for less bravado and more simple common sense.
