Here’s a little music history irony for you. On June 18th in 1948, Columbia Records started the first mass production of the 33-RPM long player. The new format could contain a maximum of 23 minutes of music per side versus the three minutes that could be squeezed on to a 78 RPM disc. Fast forward to the year 2000, it was reported that sales of pirate music CDs had now exceeded more than 500 million a year and accounted for one in every five sold. And that was 13 years ago! Wonder what the figures are today?
