Hey everyone, As you may well remember, in April this year the Nigerian terrorist group Boko Haram kidnapped 276 schoolgirls merely because they were in school, attaining an education. Seven months on and fewer than sixty of the girls have been returned to their homes, meaning that the remainder of these girls are still in the hands of terrorists or have been sold as slaves or into marriage and are facing violence and fear daily. This horrific act stunned the world, and initially many people took action. However, since April there has been other news, and the western media and many of the people campaigning for the girls release have essentially forgotten about them, so yesterday our FemSoc held a meeting to discuss and gather names for the people who would like to sign their name on the letters we plan to send out to our government representatives to ensure they keep this issue high priority in government (which has not been happening of late). The meeting was quite small, however, and we realise that there may be others who are eager to get these girls home safe and away from the utterly hellish situation they are in. If you would like your name included in the letter, simply like this post and we will do the rest. Also, before the letter is sent we will post the contents on this page so you all know exactly what youre signing. Thank you so much in advance for helping #BringBackOurGirls.
