Hey everyone :) So, the USASA elections are coming up, and Im running again for City East rep. I know some of you might be cringing, thinking oh my god, hes going to spam the page, but I just thought Id make a post to let you know what Ive achieved so far and what Im hoping to achieve if I get elected in again. My policies for the upcoming year if I get in are: * a better voice and better representation for external students: Ive noticed a lot of externals are often left in the dark, and when an issue comes up they really have to do everything off of their own back. I want them to have better representation on behalf of Uni SA and USASA for when these troubles arrive. * a nursing clinic at City East: we already have clinics for podiatrists and physiotherapists, and we as nurses make up the biggest cohort at City East. I plan on lobbying for some form of clinic - even if its just a patient education one - where we can get experience with qualified RNs helping other students and possibly even the public. * better mental-health support: I wont lie - there have been times where Ive battled with diseases such as depression and anxiety, and at times Ive tried seeking the support of the counselling service at the LTU. When I went in to see someone though, I wasnt able to get an appointment until Tuesday next week. I dont think this is acceptable, especially in times of a crisis where a student might not have any idea what theyre going to do next. Im lobbying for better mental-health services and crisis care across ALL CAMPUSES of Uni SA. My successes from the current USASA board include: * we now have staff from the CPU working at Campus Central, meaning there is better support for students undertaking clinical placement. * we now have a representative on the USASA board (starting this election) for all Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander students enrolled at Uni SA. * the transition from UniLife to USASA, which resulted in a greater campus presence and better student representation. If you have any questions or youre seeking clarity on any points, please dont hesitate in getting in contact with me. I hope I can rely on your votes to make City East even better to finish off the year -Tyler Whitaker Current USASA City East Representative President of the Nursing & Midwifery Social Club Vote 1 - Tyler Whitaker for City East Representative Vote 1 - Anthony Hooper for President Vote 1 - Jay Joseph for Post-Grad Representative Vote 1 - Rong Kun Ho (Lenny) for International Representative Approved by the RO - 2nd of June, 2014
