Hey everyone! This is a slightly long message but stay with me :) I’m Amber and I am your WestlawNext Canada Student Intern. Westlaw has moved to a new interface called WestlawNext Canada and it has tons of amazing features that I’m sure you’ll find helpful while doing your legal research. As most of you are likely using TWEN (The West Education Network), you have probably already signed in with your student ID. If you haven’t here are some things to remember 1L students – Most of you will already have received your ID from Cathy Cotter, our Reference Librarian and your Fundamentals of Advocacy professor. It is very important that you register your ID when you sign in. If you do not register your ID your account will only work for a limited time before being deactivated. Register by going to lawschool.westlaw (TWEN sign in page) and by clicking the big orange button to the right that says “REGISTER” and clicking “Registering for the first time”. Please use your unb.ca e-mail when registering. Upper year students – You will use your same ID as you have in past years to log in. If you have forgotten your password you can use the forgot password link on the sign-in page at lawschool.westlaw. Please visit the WestlawNext tab to make sure you have access. Transfer, Exchange, Letter of Permission, NCA and Visiting students – You will need to get an ID, if you haven’t done this yet you can get it from Cathy Cotter, the Reference Librarian. It is very important that you register your ID when you sign in or your account will only work for a limited time before being deactivated. You can register by going to lawschool.westlaw (TWEN sign in page) and by clicking the big orange button to the right that says “REGISTER” and click either “Registering for the first time” or “Student Transferring to Another Law School” if you have already had a Westlaw CANADA account in the past. Please use your unb.ca e-mail when registering. After logging on head over to the WestlawNext Canada interface by clicking the link on the top banner of the page. There are lots of great new features like folders, folder sharing, and highlighting. Check out the videos I’ll be posting below to see just some of the new features. If you have questions about WestlawNext Canada please don’t hesitate to send me a message. Also, keep an eye out for contests and events for a chance to win some fabulous prizes! Happy researching! :D
