Hey guys - Not even one week after our event, and our venue has already been poached from underneath us. FRAG has gone directly to the venues principal to ask for the space. While this in no way is against any law or rules, its pretty unethical from out LANs perspective. We spent two months of hard work, long tireless hours, debates, and mental strain to secure the venue, along with cables, internet, prizes etc (As I mentioned in a previous post, around R200,000 worth of infrastructure) all to have an entity come in and take it away. Betrayed is the least of our emotions, as now our pinnacle of charitable hope is taken away. Everything that we stood for - fought companies and even our own member for - has been poached and acquired by someone else. We wanted to try change the face of mass LANs, to show companies that piracy can be removed, to show gamers that there is a place they can get together and do exactly what they love. Now that our home has been taken, we will be labelled by companies and cooperations as something that stands with FRAG. We wanted to have LANs of only up to four times a year. This would of allowed people to have something to look forward to, and not dumb down our true cause. We wanted this for charity - for Chase Tanner. The legacy started as something so pure and just, only to be smothered in another LANs previous and future dealings. Venues such as Crawford College and Penzance School would not hire their venue out to FRAG due to under-age drinking, drug-abuse, etc. To go on the record, Chasing Inspiration LAN has no involvement with, and does not assosiate with FRAG in any way. For our November LAN to work, we had to go to FRAG (On the Thursday - after our prior sponsorship dropped) to loan their electric cables. James, the headman at FRAG, said that because its a charity event, we do not have t pay him in any way. Although, now, it looks like the price is much higher than money. Although he may have the venue - he will never have our values. This post isnt about us smearing FRAG, but more of telling our community the truth, and current dealings. If only 30 people come to our next LAN, thats the 30 people we want. Foundations are slow to build, and we need to get it right first time.
