Hey guys and gals, I hope this message finds everyone well.... Update on my medical for those that want to know and keep up from FB. I was in the hospital with some Diabeties issues and while doing a CT they saw that my kidney(right) was large and retaining fluid. My urologist felt the best thing to do was to stent the ureter (connects the kidney and the bladder) so the kidney would drain properly. It has been quite uncomfortable and is still causing some pain but it is better than what could have happened. I saw the urologist today and my pain doctors, it seems that they want my pancreas to be taken out of my body as the inflammation and scar tissue from it is what is causing the blockage. I called my surgeon in Chicago and he said he will take it out. This requires another major surgery in Chicago( not my favorite thing AT ALL ) and I dont know how long I will be there. There are still questions I have for the surgeon as he told us many years ago that they avoid taking out the organ if at all possible. The stent that is currently in will have to be changed every month or two to avoid calcification if we leave things alone. If they take it out right now, with the pancreas the way it is, my kidneys will fail. Needless to say, they did not take it out today. Lol My surgeon just messaged me and will have his thoughts to me prior to my Appt with my nephrologist tomorrow. I dont know what we will do, pain is obviously nothing that is new to me so Im okay with that short term ( more pain = more meds And we have been trying to keep me comfortable on the least amount ) but I just dont have all the information yet. The stent can also cause infections frequently and we dont want that either. The biggest problem I have at this time is that we dont know if it is my original pancreas that, yes, is still in me or the transplanted pancreas (which sits quite aways away from where the pressure is being applied. There we are, you guys know as much as I do so I will update accordingly from here. I hope to have much more information so we can make the best decision possible and keep trying to protect these kidneys. Thanks for letting me get it out and Ill be back tomorrow I guess. Xoxoxo
