Hi Emergency Management , One Dead in I-69 Crash Delaware County – This morning around 11:45 a.m. troopers responded to the area of I-69 north bound around the 233.5 mile marker for a two vehicle crash. When they arrived they found a 2002 Chrysler 300 off the right side of the road with heavy rear end damage, and a Dodge Pickup off the right side of the road in a field with front end damage. Preliminary investigation by Trooper Andy Sparks indicates the 2002 Chrysler 300, driven by Donna Randolph, age 41 of Indianapolis, was north bound in the right lane when, for an unknown reason, she stopped the car in the roadway. The Dodge Truck, driven by Harold Shemberger Jr., age 72 of Luther, Michigan struck the car in the rear knocking it from the roadway. Harold Shemberger and his wife, passenger Rosemary Shemberger, age 76 were transported to IU Health’s Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie with non life threatening injuries. Donna Randolph and her front seat passenger, her daughter Monique Ford, age 20 of Indianapolis,( who is 36 weeks pregnant,) were taken to IU Health’s Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie with non life threatening injuries. Larry Ford, Monique Ford’s son, age 14 mos., was in a child restraint in the back seat and was flown by medical helicopter to Riley Hospital in Indianapolis. Dejour-Kyrie Martin, age 20 and also a back seat passenger, was flown from the scene by medical helicopter to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis with internal injuries. Tavionna Elizabeth Ford, age 4, the daughter of Monique Ford, was also in the back seat but WAS NOT in a child restraint. She succumbed to her injuries at IU Health’s Ball Memorial Hospital shortly after her arrival. The investigation is ongoing with toxicology reports pending. Sparks was assisted at the scene by Chesterfield PD and Fire; Anderson Fire Department; Union Twp. Fire; Daleville PD and EMS and Fire; Delaware County EMS and Rural Metro EMS. Seatbelts and Child Restraints are known to reduce risk of injury by fifty percent in the event you are involved in a crash. Make sure everyone is buckled up in your vehicle, and make sure children are in a properly fitted and anchored child restraint seat.
