Hi Folks! PRIDE WEEK IS COMING UP! LIKE IT IS NEXT WEEK OMG! Here is what the events are looking to be: Monday: Out and About Baker Center 3rd Floor Atrium 7PM -Enjoy food, an art exhibit and music while you mingle! Tuesday: Kye Allums (Speaker) The first open transgender athlete in division 1 basketball Ping Center 7 PM - Kye will be taking us on his journey as he comes out and copes with being a member of the LGBT community and an athlete Wednesday: Preferred Name Policy Dine-N-Discuss Baker Center 3rd Floor, LGBT Center Noon - Come talk to Debra Benton and Dr.Descunter and learn about the current preferred name policy the university is drafting and provide your feedback. There will also be food, thats always a plus. Reflect and Remember Vigil Scripps Amphitheater 8 PM -Join us as we reflect upon the success in our lives and those we love, the hardships weve overcome as well as those who have fought for our equality and lost their lives. Come light a candle and support your peers as we reflect on your victories and remember the adversity of those before us faced. The survivor advocacy program will be present for support and there will be readings from several folk. Thursday: Free HIV Testing Baker Center, Room TBA Time TBA (THIS IS TENTATIVE) Friday: Out and Relaxin at Donkey Coffee Donkey Coffee Time 7 PM -Join us at Donkey coffee for a collaborative discussion about homelessness and how AIDS effects the LGBTQA community with Ohio University LGBT Center Director Deflin Bautista and friends. Want coffee or a sweet treat? Its on us. Bring your rainbow pride ribbon with you to Donkey, show your barista diva when you order and youre drink or treat is on us! After the discussion well be showing a favorite movie, Rent, which displays many of the topics we talked about during the discussion. Saturday: Out and Active Hocking River Bike Path 11 AM -Whats better than being active? Being out and active together! Come out to the bike path down by the hocking river with friends to enjoy a scenic walk or run, whatever you prefer and get healthy. Well even provide the healthy snacks! Jackie Os Social Jackie Os Bar and Brewery 9 PM -12 AM NO COVER CHARGE ! -Ready to dance the night away? Enjoy yourself at Jackie Os Bar with DJ Taylor Buhring, friends, good music and plenty of rainbow pride. Theres no cover charge at the door but we will be asking for proceeds to benefit the LGBTQA community at Ohio University.
