Hi Ms Jeri.. I wrote a little note on my wall in memory of Steve. I couldnt tag you because were not offically FB friends.. here it is: IN MEMORY OF STEVE HILL: 3 weeks ago I woke up in Finland and heard that Steve Hill, who many know as an evangelist and a pastor had passed away. Disbelief and sadness filled my mind instantly. It has taken me a few weeks to process and understand, that the voice we all knew so well, will no longer call people to repentance and get their lives right with God. I also remembered the fun times with him. Many people who knew the public side of the Evangelist, did not necessarily know that deep down inside he was a comedian. One day we were trying to find a pawn shop, where to buy a record player. I missed a turn and made a U-turn in the middle of the street. Steve said to me: Man, youre liable to get a ticket...but I like the way you drive !!! and laughed.. I also learned many valuable things about ministry. One time after having a burger on one outing, he told me: Zico, the most important thing in ministry, is to check your teeth after you had a burger... Because you dont want to be shaking hands and smile at people when you have a big ol piece of lettuce stuck between your teeth. He gave me that smile that always followed when he said something hilarious. After some time of reflecting, I realized that there are so many people, who got touched by the life of Steve, and who will pick up the baton and continue the race. The passion for souls that was transferred to the next generation, will multiply in results, that one mans life could ever produce. So, the seed that was planted over years of ministry in Pensacola, Dallas and all over the world, is (and will continue) producing much fruit. Working for 4 years under Steve at Heartland I got to know some great people and dear friends and their families. Without Steve, I would have never had the privilege of knowing you. (Ill name a few, not in a particular order, you are all equally important) Jeff Baldwin Karl Bruss Eliecer Munoz Chris Lister Shane Trammel Frank Barron Floyd Ellsworth Michele Hegemann and Bernd, Clayton Phillips Scott Boyd Steve Delaney Armi Victoria Javier Ted Rockwell Lee Mathewson Mike Duncan Renee Thomas-Rosario Michael Meek and many more... The fruit of these friendships alone, will carry on to eternity. Kelsey Hill Shelby, Ryan.. Your dads legacy will live on in all of us, that his life touched..and there are millions ! Jeri Hill, one of the most courageous women that I know. Your strength and faith through it all is admirable. God bless you all and keep you in his loving care. ...... P.S. The first time I shook your hand, at the old office... I called you: pastor Jeri. To me, you were always a pastor alongside Steve. You have a pastors heart, that always acknowledges people no matter who they are.. Thank you !
