Hi Nicholas Ashby, following our chat last night regarding the conference you and Nicole attended.. I found the discussion on the observed parallels between cruelty to animals and children occurrences interesting. A couple weeks back I read the following: " ..In times past, the abuse and subjugation of children were common-place and often taken for granted. As late as 1890, there was no Society for the prevention of Cruelty to Children, although there was a Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals." (Bradshaw, p273). The dynamics of a tightly knit human-animal family unit must be quite complex. Especially if dominant and subverted personalities are present. Then I suspect the interplay of for alpha role and protective instincts can become unclear, as the boundaries between human and animal psychologies and loyalties are tested. I am presently engaged in a project with a clinical psychologist involving a statistical evaluation of pain scale she is developing to the facilitate the treatment of severely traumatised children - so I find this whole topic fascinating. I also wish to share with you the following book: (purchased and next up on my reading list) amazon/In-Unspoken-Voice-Releases-Restores/dp/1556439431/ref=cm_lmf_tit_5 And: shortoftheweek/2012/11/13/im-fine-thanks/ Hope to see you both at short and sweet. Lots of love and hugs to you and nicole xx
