Hi all Couple of days late - but here is the report from Sunday First game saw us with our usual hang-over, and we were turned over 5-0 by Tunbridge Wells. The fact that they also turned everyone else over - (including Bromley by 5-1) made me feel better as the day wore on! Second game brought a huge improvement and a good 5-2 win against Battersea Ironsides. Two tries from Jack, in his first tournament for the club and tries from the two Thomases and Kapene did the bizz. Another good win in the third game - against Parkhouse. This was a particularly good game for our defence - as we kept a clean sheet, winning 4-0 and showing great tackling committment. Tries from Max, the two Thomases (again - is this gonna be a new double act?) and a great rumbled in try from wrecking ball Marcus saw us home. Our final group game pitted us against our great rivals Bromley. Organised as ever - they kept us down to the single try from Adam - and what a good run it was. Alas they scored 3, so the 1-3 loss meant they nicked second place in the group. The fifth/sixth place play-off, against Old Colfes, who also came third in the other group, was probably the best - and certainly the most nerve-wracking - game of the day. Two tries from Thomas C and one from Thomas G (there they go again!!) along with one from Kapene saw us into a comfortable lead with just minutes to go. Then Colfes came back with two unanswered tries, and the scores were tied at 4 all going into the last play of the match - and sudden death! For once we remembered how to pass the ball along the line, and some good team work saw Max put into space on the left wing. Max did what Max does - put on the after-burners and WHOOSH!!! he was away in the corner for the winning score. The weather was kind to us - it stayed fine all the time we were there - and the parents brought a great atmosphere to the event. We even managed to get the gazebo up (and down) without any nervous breakdowns (I think!!) Thanks to all who took part - and have a great time at Beccehamians next week those of you who will be going there. The rest of you Ill see back at the ranch for training. Cheers David The squad that played 1. Adam Gass 2. Patrick O Sullivan 3. Thomas Gilbert 4. Jack Guckian 5. Eleanor Young 6. Stevie Hicks 7. Kapene Plews 8. Marcus Williams 9. Thomas Clarke 10.
