Hi there :) I think this is relevant since Im trying to move back home to Wycombe... (Admin, please delete if its not!) Im looking for some tips from High Wycombe landlords/agencies on the best way to go about convincing them that taking on a Housing Benefit tenant is not as dangerous as the media would have most people believe! For someone like me, who has worked most of my life, not having to juggle and put aside wages for rent outgoings is surely a godsend and I just do not understand why landlords/agencies are so adamant about No DSS. If the tenant has good references, looks after the property and can prove it and all the rest of the things that make an ideal tenant (like me!), why is it so impossible to find a landlord/agency that understands this? I do understand that since the fearsome Universal Credit system was introduced (and seems to have failed!) vendors are worried that they will not get their rent. How is a DSS tenant being paid monthly any different at all from someone earning a monthly wage? Surely, it all comes down to the individual tenants skill at budgeting (and possibly their intelligence!), not whether or not they currently have a job... with the current state of our economy, having a job one month does not necessarily mean you will keep it the next! Can someone out there please give some advice, Im starting to feel like a social lepper, despite my own good credentials and I am getting so frustrated! Thank you x
