Hindi Diwas (Some Facts) September 14 1. On 14th September 1949 Hindi was adopted as the Official Language of the Union of India. 2. In 1950, the Constitution of India declared Hindi in the Devanagari script as the Official language of India. 3.According to Article 343(1) in The Constitution Of India the official language of the Union shall be Hindi in Devanagari script 4. Hindi is one of the main languages of India and is spoken by around 40% of the Indian population. 5. Hindi is 2nd most spoken language of the world after Chini language. 6. Official Languages Act 1963 has allowed the continuation of the use of English along with Hindi for official purposes. 7. However some North Eastern states of India like Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland have English as their official language.
