Home Home Home Home from this wild but fulfilling adventure!!!! And very happy to be. :) I know a lot of folks are wondering about what I will be doing now that I am back. I am considered very low risk, because I have NOT been involved in any aspect of patient care while in Sierra Leone. I never saw or came in contact with anyone who was sick or who was at risk for Ebola themselves. But there are still things I will do to be safe and sure. For those worried about our borders, I have to say I was impressed with how I was handled coming back in. Even though I came from a non-Ebola country due to my detour in Ghana, my itinerary was flagged and I had a special screening as I went through Customs, including an interview, temperature check, and provision of a Care Kit with a thermometer and instructions. Even though I am very low risk, I will self-monitor carefully for 21 days from the date I left Sierra Leone. This is a twice daily temperature read and daily check-in with health authorities. I have also personally made a decision to avoid public gatherings and schools (not because I pose any sort of risk while I am healthy, but because I understand the fear so many Americans have, and I feel like people have the right to set their own boundaries/comfort level.) Hope this helps explain things, and I will let everyone know when I pass that magic mark. :)
